Shunned out from his tribe when his Padjal horns grew in at nearly the age of 19, Mezu'ya Ruta became known as U-Kapap-Ruta to the Elementals of the Greatwood. Since then, he has lived an independent life in the Shroud. While he has come to accept his duty that the Elementals have placed upon him, he has taken it upon himself to refuse to associate himself with the sequestered and political lifestyle of the Seedseers. As a result, he has ironically settled himself in a different style of sequestered life that avoids the Seedseers with varying degrees of success.Mezu'ya lives his days serving the Elementals, addressing areas of the Shroud that are brought to his attention without much question. However, his attitude was not always this way, having originally felt cursed, he tried to shun both the Elementals and the Seedseers, but in the end, he resigned himself to his fate, but still refused to join the Seedseers in Gridania. To this day, he has yet to leave the Shroud and while still hiding away, the Seedseers still try to discretely lend him aid, partially in hope that he will join them for a conversation at the very least.

U-Kapap (Mezu'ya) has fangs, a lean build, and is short in stature. When he needs to be seen in public, he glamours his Padjal horns. He is identifiable at night with his bright, snow white eyes that seem to reflect the moonlight. His white-silvery hair also works to compliment the bright appearance of his eyes. His hair is typically styled down and rests slightly on his shoulders in length.He lives a simple life and has put effort to avert drawing unwanted attention to himself, so his resulting wardrobe is somewhat simple. He normally wears casual attire that is common with the people of the Twelveswood, his favorite simple attire being a tunic with leather pants and sandals. When necessary, he does don a more formal ensemble for healing.
